Google Reignites the Browser Wars with Chrome: The Third Browser War is Upon Us

Google has finally made the move I have been anticipating for the last four years: They are launching their own browser, Chrome. Built on the same WebKit engine used by Safari, the iPhone and Android, with full Gears support, and most importantly, a multi-process design, Chrome will pose a serious threat to Microsoft’s dominance in the browser market. The fact that Google is open-sourcing Chrome’s code base means that, most likely, their paradigm shifting innovations will be integrated into the world’s second most popular browser, Firefox. Is this the beginning of the Third Browser War? Yes.
