It is profoundly irksome to me when tech pundits like the venerable, if somewhat crotchety, Walt Mossberg, claim this new product or that new product will be the next ‘iPhone killer.’ So, I won’t call Sony Ericsson’s new Xperia a killer of anything - but, it does look like it might be the first device to actually give Apple’s mobile a run for its money. The phone could have, however, done without the horrible theme song: “The magical mystery toy is waiting to take you away.”  Maybe that’s why Dee Dutta, Sony Ericsson’s head of marketing resigned on March 28? Or maybe we should blame McCann-Erickson.
